Get to know our new leaders at Levi Strauss & Co. through these Quick Qs. In this edition, meeting Isaac Bayoh, who recently joined the company as our new Data, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Lead for the Americas.
What is your new role at LS&Co.?
As the regional Lead for Data, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), I will inspire the Data and AI regional team to achieve more through trusted collaboration and efficient innovation.
What did you do before joining LS&Co.?
I was a data and AI principal cloud solution architect for Microsoft. My main focus was on developing and implementing solutions on Azure for financial services firms. Before Microsoft, I had various leadership role in insurance (Nationwide, Prudential and Plymouth Rock), mostly on the data and analytics side.
What are the biggest challenges you and your team face?
How we see ourselves as enablers. Our role is to make sure that our internal partners set and achieve ambitious goals. With that said, our immediate challenge would be the harmonization of our goals and objectives with our internal partners.
Do you have a favorite personal story about LS&Co. or one of our products?
I grew up in the Ivory Coast, where converted to U.S. dollars the 501® costs about $100. I asked my father to get me one when I was in high school — instead he found me a summer job. I worked the entire summer for the money. I made it. I made enough, but ultimately decided that the money was better served in my savings account. I did not buy the jeans.
If you were given a boat, what would you name it?
Sakina, meaning tranquility in Arabic.
What’s one thing that no one would guess about you?
I am an agriculture major. I started my professional career working with farmers in west Africa.
